Grangettes Switzerland is a reliable and conscientious Swiss cosmetics brand. In this article, focus on our eco-responsible packaging.

A clean charter duly respected

From formulation to production, we make sure to respect our charte clean : labeling “Peta Animal Test Free and Vegan”, excellent rating on Yuka and on other analysis platforms cosmetics, respect for the environment and ethics.

Like many other criteria, the choice of packaging for our products is the result of in-depth reflection on recycling, product conservation, practicality, eco-responsibility and aesthetics.

The different types of packaging in the field of cosmetology

Plastic

If you know us, you already know it: plastic is not an option for Grangettes Switzerland. However, it has many advantages: lightness, flexibility, hygiene, solidity, low production cost. However, it has significant consequences on the pollution of the environment, and this even if there is recycling, the latter not being infinite, it will end up one day or another by being burned or rejected in the environment. .

Green plastic or green polyethylene (Green PE)

Today there is a type of plastic that is biodegradable under certain conditions (also called "vegetable plastic") made from natural elements such as corn or sugar cane. The manufacture of Green PE produces 75% less CO2 than for traditional plastic. Its production is therefore much more respectful of the environment and its use has many advantages. However, it remains important to ensure that the products do not come from agricultural areas (corn, sugar cane) resulting from deforestation. For this type of packaging, suppliers should therefore be chosen with the greatest care. It is also important to consider that Green PE is not compostable. In order to be recycled, it must be processed in a special processing subsidiary, otherwise it will be incinerated.

Glass

Even if it is heavier and can break, glass has many advantages: low-polluting manufacturing and from natural materials, ease of cleaning, easy reuse, easy and infinite recycling. In addition, the glass is not porous and therefore does not allow oxygen to pass through. It is therefore a material of choice to protect the cream from oxidation. If the glass is painted, it also protects against light oxidation.

L’aluminium

Aluminum is an excellent material for maintaining the quality of a cosmetic formulation. It is a non-porous and opaque material, thus offering the best protection against oxidation created by UV rays, humidity, temperature changes or oxygen. It also preserves germs. It is unbreakable and infinitely recyclable, in addition to being the most abundant metal on Earth. It is also light and easily moldable.

The choice of Grangettes Switzerland

After considering the different options, our brand focused on the use of glass and aluminum to offer our customers the best quality by opting for:

  • materials that offer the best protection against formulation oxidation, for superior quality;
  • infinitely recyclable materials;
  • an elegant design, from the delicacy to the touch and the sobriety of glass and aluminum;
  • stable and non-porous materials, which avoid the transfer of odors or materials (such as plastic components) in the formulations.

We considered the option of "Green PE", i.e. plastics made from natural materials. However, the production sites are mainly in Brazil and we have chosen to supply ourselves with local materials. In addition, recycling subsidiaries of Green PE are very rare and it ends up incinerated most of the time, which makes it less ecologically attractive.

The choice of our packagings is therefore a real strategic choice, as is the concentration of the assets of our formulations.

We are happy and proud to be able to make you enjoy it!
