The skin becomes thinner, drier, and tighter. It is also more sensitive to sunlight and therefore needs to be better protected.

Choosing your anti-aging cream: identifying your skin type
In order to choose your anti-aging cream, you must first identify your skin type. This is what will allow you to opt for suitable care, whether in terms of texture or active ingredients. Indeed, treatment that is too rich or too aggressive for skin could cause imperfections, microcysts, overproduction of sebum or even skin reactions.
Furthermore, oily skin is often thicker and generally ages more slowly than dry skin, which is thinner and more sensitive to aggressions. Damaged skin and dehydrated skin also require more attention, as they weaken more quickly.
anti-aging care can have varied textures, which allows them to adapt to all skin types:
- If you have combination or oily skin, gels and emulsions are ideal;
- If you have normal skin, opt for a cream;
- If your skin is very dry, anti-aging balms may be of interest.
Search for anti-aging active ingredients
To benefit from agood anti-aging cream, you must naturally turn to anti-aging active ingredients:
- Hyaluronic acid: this anti-aging active ingredient is naturally present in the structure of the skin, but its production decreases over time. In anti-aging creams, it smooths wrinkles, plumps the skin, hydrates it, and maintains its elasticity;
- vitamin C: it is used in many anti-aging creams, and for good reason... It prevents and corrects skin aging. It stimulates collagen synthesis and fibroblast activity: this slows down the appearance of wrinkles and restores firmness to the skin. However, note that this active ingredient is only effective when its concentration exceeds a rate of 5%. Vitamin C also acts on pigmentation spots, fading them and refining skin texture. It is the ideal ingredient for a smoother skin, without imperfections! Finally, vitamin C neutralizes free radicals induced by UV, tobacco, stress, and pollution. It is a well-tolerated active ingredient for all skin types;
- peptides: these are anti-aging active ingredients that provide a lifting and tightening effect. These are small proteins that penetrate deeply to boost the natural functions of cells and thus slow down skin aging. Peptides activate the cell regeneration process and promote the proliferation of fibroblasts: they help restore density and suppleness to the skin. Thanks to their smoothing action, these active ingredients smooth facial features and signs of fatigue. They are generally very well tolerated by all skin types and the risk of allergy is extremely low;
- niacinamide (vitamin B3): it helps to fight against aging of the skin and to maintain its hydration. It also helps combat skin discoloration, redness, and inflammation;
- madecassoside and asiaticoside: these are molecules which are involved in the production of collagen and fibroblasts, cells which play an important role in tissue regeneration;
-
retinol: this is the active form of vitamin A. It is an anti-aging active ingredient which allows you to effectively preserve the youthfulness of the skin. It stimulates fibroblasts, elastin production and collagen synthesis. It helps boost cellular renewal, regulate melanin synthesis and reduce brown spots. It helps fight against imperfections and limits free radicals. Integrate this ingredient gradually into your skincare routine, to be sure you tolerate it well. However, it is important to note that this ingredient makes the skin sensitive to UV rays and that it would have a potential impact on the environment: these are the reasons why, at Grangettes, we have chosen not to use it. in our cosmetic products.
Carefully check the composition of your anti-aging cream
To properly choose your anti-aging cream, also ensure that its composition is clean! Make sure that harmful substances (irritants, parabens, silicones, PEGs, allergens, comedogenic ingredients, petroleum derivatives, endocrine disruptors, pollutants...) are excluded from the composition.
