The use of soothing and anti-inflammatory products
The first reflex to calm skin inflammation is to apply products that have anti-inflammatory properties. Many natural ingredients used in cosmetics can relieve irritation and reduce inflammation:
- The bisabolol: this ingredient helps to reduce irritations, redness, flaking, and various sensations of skin discomfort. Plant-derived bisabolol also enhances the absorption power of other active substances found in a skincare product: it is therefore an active ingredient that boosts the effectiveness and effect of other active ingredients present in your cosmetics;
- The papain: it has powerful soothing, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. As a result, it is used to treat acne problems, but also to relieve sensitive, reactive, and irritated skin;
- L'ectoine: ectoine belongs to the family of amino acids. This active ingredient is naturally present in the skin and acts as a protector of the skin barrier against external aggressions. Used in cosmetics, it effectively reduces the inflammatory symptoms of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
- Aloe vera: this plant is well known for its soothing properties. It helps hydrate the skin, while reducing redness and irritation. You can use pure aloe vera gel or creams that contain it. Apply a generous layer to the affected area and let it penetrate;
-
Calendula oil: calendula oil, extracted from marigold flowers, has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. It is ideal for soothing irritated skin, prone to redness, or after sunburns. It helps to repair the skin and soothe skin inflammations.
To soothe inflammation, the Grangettes soothing cream is ideal. It contains bisabolol, which calms sensitive skin. Hyaluronic acid, squalane, and allantoin, on the other hand, deeply hydrate and leave your skin supple and soft!

Apply cold compresses
Applying cold compresses is a simple and effective remedy to reduce inflammation and soothe associated pain. Cold decreases blood circulation to the affected area, which can reduce inflammation and redness. To apply a cold compress, soak a clean cloth or towel in cold water (or cold milk for an added soothing effect). Then place the towel on the inflamed skin for about 10 to 15 minutes. You can repeat the operation several times a day. This can be especially helpful if you have sunburn or itching from allergies.
Choose gentle products
For your cosmetic routine, be sure to choose gentle products. Overly scented and harsh treatments can worsen skin inflammations. It is therefore essential to select treatments specifically formulated for hypersensitive skin.
The cosmetic analysis applications are essential here. They check the composition of products so that you can turn to products that do not contain toxic or irritating ingredients. Furthermore, these apps allow you to choose more eco-friendly products: the less the product contains controversial substances (preservatives, sulfates, colorants, parabens…), the more it contains natural ingredients. You can then choose healthier cosmetics for yourself and for the planet!
Adopt an anti-inflammatory diet
Consuming foods rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids (omega-3) can help reduce inflammation. Include foods such as fatty fish (salmon, mackerel), nuts, flax seeds, red fruits (rich in vitamin C and anthocyanins) and green leafy vegetables in your meals. Also avoid processed foods, high in refined sugars and saturated fats, which can worsen inflammation.
Use soothing essential oils
Some essential oils have anti-inflammatory and calming properties, which can be beneficial for inflamed skin. However, they must be used with caution, because they are very concentrated:
-
Lavender essential oil: lavender is known for its soothing and restorative properties. It can help soothe redness, inflammation and itching. Dilute a few drops of lavender essential oil in a carrier oil (such as sweet almond or jojoba oil) and apply gently to the affected area;
-
Chamomile essential oil : the blue chamomile has anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant properties. It is particularly effective for soothing skin prone to allergies and skin rashes.
-
Tea tree essential oil: tea tree is renowned for its antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is ideal for inflammations linked to skin infections, such as acne. However, as with all essential oils, be sure to use it diluted, as it can be irritating in its pure form.
