What is fragile skin?

With age, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile. When you pinch and pull your skin lightly between two fingers, the crease takes time to disappear. How does our skin age?

What ingredients should you avoid when you have fragile skin?

When we have the fragile, thin skin, several ingredients must absolutely be avoided:

  • THE AHA (a-hydroxy acids). These are acids that generally come from fruits like apple, lemon or papaya. If they are frequently used to exfoliate the epidermis and help remove impurities and dead cells from the surface of the skin. The problem ? They are very poorly tolerated by sensitive skins, because they are aggressive for the skin barrier. They can then cause reactions such as irritation, tingling, redness or eczema;
  • THE sulfated surfactants : they are very irritating to the skin. They are found in the list of ingredients of cleansers to obtain foam. Shampoos, shower gels or even facial cleansers contain them: the problem is that these ingredients alter the skin barrier, which is already damaged when you have fragile skin.

What ingredients should you look for when you have fragile skin?

  • THE ceramides : they are naturally present in the epidermis. These are lipids that have the ability to maintain hydration and protect the skin against the harmful effects of oxidative stress. Look for it in serums and facial creams, to restore strength to your weakened skin ;
  • The niacinamide : also called vitamin B3, niacinamide encourages the skin to produce more ceramides. These prevent dehydration and combat the harmful effects of external aggressions.     Not to weaken more your skin:

    • Protect it from the rays of sun ;
    • Clean it with a gentle purifying gel, and not a soap, which could further dry the skin;
