What is skin elasticity?
Elasticity is the ability of the skin to return to its original shape when pinched or stretched. Our skin is naturally stretchy thanks to elastin, a protein which alone represents 90% of the elastic fibers in the dermis.
The production of elastin begins in the middle of pregnancy: it is maximum in the newborn, then stops at puberty. It is therefore around adolescence that the quantity elastin in the body begins to gradually decrease. THE mature skin contain five times less elastin than young skin.
But elastin is not the only one protein to guarantee skin elasticity. This is also the case for collagen, a protein that gives a plump, plumped appearance to the skin.
With age, the weakening of collagen structures and the loss of elastin cause a sagging skin of the face, as well as changes in skin texture. She becomes more soft, and it is dragged downward by the effect of gravity.
Why does the skin lose its elasticity?
Loss of elasticity is a natural process of aging. As we age, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases, leading to weakening of the supporting tissues. But other factors can accelerate this loss of elasticity, such as:- Excessive and repeated exposure to the sun: lUV rays damage collagen and elastin fibers. They lead to their degradation and a reduction in the production of new fibers;
- Lifestyle: the consumption of tobacco is one of the main factors of premature aging of the skin. Smoking impairs blood circulation and reduces the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Also note that an unbalanced diet, excessive consumption alcohol or even a lack of physical activity can also impact skin elasticity ;
- THE hormones : Hormonal fluctuations impact skin elasticity. During menopause, decreasing estrogen levels can lead to reduced production of collagen, which can affect the firmness and elasticity of the skin;
- Environmental factors: the atmospheric pollution, aggressive chemicals, cold, excessive dryness of the air can damage the skin barrier. The skin then loses hydration and elasticity

Apply a special eye contour treatment
The skin around the eyes is thinner, more prone to aggression and vulnerable to UV rays : it is therefore sensitive to photo-induced aging. This is partly why wrinkles often appear first around the eyes.
But that's not all: at the level of this zone, the skin has few sebaceous glands, unlike the rest of the skin. There face cream that you use daily is not enough to nourish and hydrate this sensitive area, which requires specific care. THE eye contour gel is a major ally here: it hydrates the skin, smoothes it and prevents the appearance of crow's feet, of the dark circles, of the pockets as well as rides around the eyes. This type of treatment has a more fluid texture than creams, which allows you not to overload, irritate or damage this area.
The eye contour gel Grangettes Switzerland has a tightening effect which acts simultaneously on wrinkles, bags and dark circles, to fight against tired skin. The combined action ofhyaluronic acid and vitamin b3 (niacinamide) also reduces the effects of sagging skin.
